Sherri, you are providing a great public service here. Awhile back I authored an e-book entitled The Little Book of Scams: Swindling for Fun and Profit and did some research on MLM groups, including going to some actual meetings where these programs were being pitched. What I found disturbing (apart from the dubious claims regarding income potential) was that they employed psychological tactics similar to those used by destructive mind control cults, especially creating an "us vs. them" mentality. Beside the financial trouble a scam causes, I imagine the psychological damage can be just as bad when the person realizes they've been duped.
